"THE JUNGLE"

HOME OF THE BEST STUDENT SECTION IN NORTHEAST OHIO

The jungle is the name for the student section at the Panthers' gym.  The jungle evolved during the 2002-2003 season as the brainchild of Art teacher and Panther basketball supporter, Brad Petraitis.  Students began painting the wall behind the student section at the beginning of the 2002-03 season (see pictures below), and with that painting, the jungle began to form.

     As the 2003-2004 season approached, Mr. Petraitis, the cheerleaders and some students decided to continue the Jungle and there was a huge turnout of students for many of the home games that season.  At every home game, four or five students were nominated as the "6th Man" of the game.  After taking all of the nominations and compiling them, it was decided that the "6th Man" for the 2003-2004 season was senior Nick Manson (see picture below).

     A new addition for the 2004-2005 season was a theme for each home game.  The themes have ranged from Santa Hat's to nerd night, to country-western night and of course, camo night.  Even though the actual Jungle is at the Panthers gymnasium, they do travel as well.  On the road, the common theme is camo night so that the visitors know that the Jungle travels and supports their team away from home as well. 

     As future seasons come and go, there will be one constant for the Panthers and that is the awesome support that the students section, The Jungle, gives them during every game.  That is why there is no doubt that The Jungle is the "best student section in Northeast Ohio."

     Are you ready for the Jungle?  You certainly were.  The Panther coaches and players thank the jungle members from the 2006-2007 season for their awesome support.  You were the best Jungle yet and a major part of our success this season.  Hopefully you enjoyed the ride as much as we did because you were a major part of the 2007 WOOSTER DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP!

It is now time for a new group of Jungle members to step up and be ready for the 2009-2010 season.  All of those students who helped the Panthers win their PAC-7 championship in football need to help us achieve the same this winter.
